DoubleTamer by VORRA — installation and quick start The plugin is free. No license key or activation is required. Plugin name in your DAW: VORRA DoubleTamer. Vendor: VORRA Audio. Close your DAW before copying or replacing plugin files. WINDOWS — VST3, WINDOWS 10/11 x64 1. Download the ZIP. If Properties shows an Unblock checkbox, enable it and click Apply. Extract the complete archive. 2. Copy the entire DoubleTamer.vst3 folder, including Contents, into: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 Windows may request administrator permission. 3. Without administrator access, use: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3 Create the folder if necessary and add it to your DAW's VST3 search paths. 4. Open your DAW and rescan plugins. FL Studio: Options > Manage plugins > Find plugins. Ableton Live: Settings/Preferences > Plug-Ins > enable VST3 and Rescan. Other DAWs: use the plugin manager and VST3 search-path settings. Copy the whole DoubleTamer.vst3 bundle, not just the inner file with the same name in Contents/x86_64-win. When replacing an older version, keep a backup outside all plugin search paths. If the old TAMER is installed, check old-project compatibility before removing it. Avoid keeping two builds with the same plugin ID in your search paths. MACOS — VST3 AND AUDIO UNIT Intel: macOS 10.13+. Apple Silicon: macOS 11+. Logic Pro/GarageBand require DoubleTamer.component (Audio Unit). In other DAWs, use the supported VST3 or AU format. 1. Extract the complete macOS ZIP and locate DoubleTamer.vst3 and DoubleTamer.component. A macOS bundle may appear as a single file. 2. In Finder, press Shift+Command+G and open the appropriate folder: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components Create missing folders and copy each entire bundle to its matching folder. 3. For a build without an Apple Developer certificate, remove quarantine and apply a local signature. This block targets only DoubleTamer bundles in the user folders from step 2. Open Terminal and paste the complete block: for bundle in "$HOME/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/DoubleTamer.vst3" "$HOME/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/DoubleTamer.component"; do if [ -d "$bundle" ]; then xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "$bundle" codesign --force --deep --sign - --timestamp=none "$bundle" codesign --verify --deep --strict --verbose=2 "$bundle" else printf 'Bundle not found: %s\n' "$bundle" fi done If you installed only one format, a message about the other missing bundle is expected. If codesign fails, retain its full output for support. These commands do not require an Apple Developer subscription. They do not notarize the plugin or disable macOS protection for other applications. If you installed into system-wide /Library folders (without ~), use this instead: for bundle in "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/DoubleTamer.vst3" "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/DoubleTamer.component"; do if [ -d "$bundle" ]; then sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "$bundle" sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - --timestamp=none "$bundle" codesign --verify --deep --strict --verbose=2 "$bundle" else printf 'Bundle not found: %s\n' "$bundle" fi done sudo asks for your Mac password; typed characters are not displayed. Do not install the same format in both the system and user plugin folders. 4. Restart your DAW and rescan. Logic Pro: Settings > Plug-in Manager > VORRA DoubleTamer > Reset & Rescan Selection. If AU is still missing, quit the DAW and run: killall AudioComponentRegistrar 2>/dev/null || true Reopen Logic and rescan again. QUICK START Real time: insert DoubleTamer on a double track or doubles bus, route the lead into its external sidechain and check that the Lead indicator receives audio. Start at TIGHT 62% and adjust by ear. Linked is for a stereo double; Dual L/R is for separate left and right takes. Files: insert a separate instance on the lead, open Files, play the required section using the DAW transport, add double files and click Process. Drag the rendered WAVs into your DAW at the song start / bar 1 and check alignment. See DoubleTamer_Description_EN.txt for details. TROUBLESHOOTING • No such file or directory: the path does not match the installation location. Locate the bundle in Finder and use the corresponding folder above. • Damaged / developer cannot be verified: repeat the quarantine and signature commands for the installed bundle's actual path, then rescan it. • Missing on Windows: check the whole .vst3 folder, x64 architecture and search paths. Keep any error reported by the plugin manager if it rejects the build. • No response to the lead: check external sidechain routing in your DAW. • Files: no timeline from the host — start the song/arrangement transport so the host supplies its position. Availability depends on the DAW. UNINSTALL Quit the DAW and remove only the installed DoubleTamer.vst3 folder and/or DoubleTamer.component bundle from the location you used. Rescan afterwards. Theme settings are stored in Tamer.settings in the VORRA Audio folder under %APPDATA% on Windows or ~/Library/Application Support on macOS. Back up the settings first if you want to keep them.
